Welcome to the official website of the Hike around the Jeleniogorska Valley, an extreme event whose goal is to hike all mountain ranges surrounding the Jeleniogorska Valley. The 145 km route passes through the Karkonosze Mountains (the Giant Mountains), the Rudawy Janowickie Mountains, the Kaczawskie Mountains and the Jizera Mountains. The time limit to cover the distance is 48 hours (non-stop). Your own feet will be the only “means of transportation” and you will carry the whole gear on your own back.

If extreme challenge, overcoming your weaknesses is your desire then this event is just for you! Dew, marsh, rocks, stones, asphalts, sand, dust, sun and rain. Warm meals prepared on your own stove, provisions carried on your back. Water taken from streams and failing that - with no water at all. Heavy boots rubbing against your feet or light sandals provoking injuries. Several pairs of socks, countless metres of bandage to bring relief to your feet, ankles, or knees. Several containers of talc to sooth your rubbed feet. Finding your way using a map. Hot, dazzling sun during the daytime and biting cold and darkness at dawn. Breaks dictated by the pace of your walk, lack of sleep. And all that to be experienced in the Karkonosze, the Rudawy, the Kaczawskie, and the Jizera Mountains; on the slopes of Mount Szrenica, Mount Sniezka, Czolo and Skalny Stol, Skalnik, Dudziarz, Baraniec, Okole, Godzisz, Wysoka Kopa; in the area of the majestic Bolczow Castle, the beautiful Bobr River Gorge; wild meadows of the Kaczawskie Mountains and wilderness of the foothills of the Jizera Mountains; climbs to Bobrowe Skaly (the Bobrowe Rocks), Zakret Smierci (the Death Curve), Wysoki Kamien (the High Stone), the deserted Jizera Mountains with the Stanislaw Quartz Mine, and Cicha Równia (the Silent Plane), and finally Przedzial famous for its bad reputation...

The event is to commemorate two rescuers of the Karkonosze Mountains Volunteer Rescue Service (GOPR): Daniel Wazynski and Mateusz Hryncewicz. They were killed in the avalanche in the Small Pond Cirque on 8 February 2005, when on duty. Daniel was the initiator of the 1st Hike – together with his two friends from GOPR he set off for the trail in 2004. Unfortunately he was never to try again …
